| Environmental Policy Statement |
Highland Control Systems will take appropriate account of the requirements of the environment, client and society when carrying out its business. The company is committed to improving environmental performance in all its areas of work, including the activities of contractors and suppliers. To achieve this, Highland Control Systems will:
- set objectives and targets to address key environmental aspects of the company’s activities and review these at least once a year, with the aim of achieving continuous improvement in environmental performance;
- monitor and audit the progress in achieving these objectives, as appropriate, and undertake an annual management review, the results of these activities being made available to staff;
- consider environmental issues in commercial decisions;
- comply with all relevant environmental legislation and industry codes of practice;
- work with clients and suppliers towards providing sustainable solutions with appropriate regard to the environment and society;
- seek to use materials efficiently, make prudent and economic use of natural resources, have proper regard to waste management and encourage re-use and re-cycling;
- avoid the use of environmentally hazardous materials and processes where practicable and take all reasonable steps to reduce pollution;
- actively promote employee awareness of this policy and the environmental issues associated with the company’s activities and provide appropriate training;
- cultivate personal responsibility for considering the environmental aspects of all activities;
- establish, maintain and effectively resource an environmental management system complying with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001: 1996;
- appoint a Senior Manager with responsibility for adherence to the environmental policy and manage the day-to-day implementation of the policy.
